Maureen Theberge

Maureen Theberge is a Registered Psychologist. She holds a Bachelor of Education as well as a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. As a teacher, Maureen worked with children, adolescents, and adults who faced academic and other challenges. She was able to help her students navigate through developmental milestones, acquire time management strategies, and set personal and professional goals. Maureen also worked for many years as a diagnostic technologist. Time spent with those suffering from chronic pain and/or terminal illness allowed her to witness the resilient nature of the human spirit, and this continues to influence her counselling style today.

Maureen’s approach to counselling is humanistic and client-centered. She utilizes Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques in her clinical practice. For those suffering from grief and loss, Maureen adheres to the Companioning model of care. Clients appreciate Maureen’s warm and accepting nature and her refreshing sense of humour. Her own life experience allows her to empathize when her clients struggle with the universal challenges inherent in life’s journey, such as raising children, separation and divorce, helping elderly parents, and the death of loved ones. Maureen works with individuals and couples from all age groups who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, chronic pain, parenting, separation and divorce, and other relationship concerns.  She is particularly skilled at helping people who are facing grief and loss, having received her Grief and Death Studies certification through the Center for Loss and Life Transitions in Fort Collins, Colorado. Maureen is a Blue Cross approved provider for RCMP, Canadian Armed Forces, and Veterans. Maureen is available to corporations and groups for workshops and lunch-and-learns.

Maureen is a born and raised Calgarian who enjoys spending time with her family, her friends, and her two dogs. She loves to travel, and she especially enjoys visiting the beautiful sights that Canada has to offer.
