Jeff Smith is a Registered Psychologist and holds a Master of Counselling degree. In addition to his background as a Psychologist, he holds Bachelor degrees in Science and in Education. Jeff was inspired to become a Psychologist through his experiences teaching in Alberta and in overseas schools, as well as working in specialized education settings. He continues to have an interest in education and offers psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents age 6-17.

Jeff works collaboratively with his clients to understand the challenges they bring to counselling and to help them develop goals for therapy. Jeff recognizes that each of his clients has his or her own unique talents and resources that can be strengthened and utilized during times of difficulty. As such, his approach is centered on assisting his clients with intentionally developing and working towards their personal objectives. He utilizes a variety of therapeutic styles including solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing. Jeff has received additional training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), which can help his clients manage anxiety and improve relationships. He has experience working with people facing stress in many types of situations, such as those related to family life, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, and in the workplace.

Jeff enjoys photography and has traveled extensively throughout the world. He is interested in learning about other cultures and has explored many countries on his bicycle. Through his own experiences, he is familiar with some of the personal, relational and cultural challenges involved in working and traveling abroad.
